Police Commissioner Brigadier Ioane Naivalurua believes his men and women on the ground are capable of delivering effective services to the public.

Police spokesperson Mr Frederick Elbourne said a 15-command group led by the commissioner was on a tour of the Western Division.

“The commissioner believes that it is important for officers in the 15-command group to familiarize themselves with the economic activity of the Western Division,” Mr Elbourne said.

“The other purpose is to get firsthand experience of the Fiji Police Force service delivery on the ground.

“This morning the Hotel Association Coral Coast chairman, Mr Bob Kennedy had briefed the Commissioner of Police.”

Mr Kennedy highlighted the economic activity and the challenges facing the business community along the Coral Coast.

“The whole purpose of the visit is to instill their confidence in the Fiji Police Force so they can feel safe and secure to do business,” Mr Elbourne said.

“The command group must also understand what it is doing and how the force can contribute to the economic growth of Fiji.

Brigadier Naivalurua also attended the re-opening of the Namaka police post  earlier today.
The Turaga Na Tui Sabeto, Ratu Tevita Susumaitoga will open the Sabeto Police Post this afternoon.

“Part of the commissioner’s intention is to create awareness among members of the public that Police is on the ground to provide a safe and secure environment for all,” Mr Elbourne said.
