Naivalurua to open youth summit tomorrow

Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua will open the National Youth Summit 2010 tomorrow.

The two-day summit which involves 70 youths from northern, eastern and central/eastern divisions begins 9.30am at the Police Academy Learning Centre in Nasova.  

The summit which is organised by the Department of Youth and Sports and the National Youth Advisory Board will serve as a platform for the establishment of an independent National Youth Council.

The summit will incude:

a) staging of the elections of interim NYC members
b) presentation of a draft constitution for NYC
c) election for a sub-committee to finalise the draft constitution of NYC
d) consultation on the national youth policy.

Participants will also join the Fiji Day march scheduled for Thursday morning through Suva City from the Flea Market to Albert Park.
