Nasinu to unveil town planning scheme

01/06/2010

Nasinu Town Council will tomorrow unveil its Town Planning Scheme which includes policy direction for development within the municipality.

Special Administrator Nasinu, Mosese Kama said such a scheme, which has never been introduced before in this municipality is a requirement under the Local Government Act.

“Nasinu, being the biggest town in Fiji, given its size, population and increasing development of buildings, businesses etc has never undergone such a scheme.

“But once implemented such a planning scheme will quicken the processes of development off the ground and also properly coordinate overall planning and development in the future,” he said.

At present the process now for any development to take place is that all applications will be processed through the Director Town and Country Planning office.

Once in place, the Town Planning Scheme will ensure quick approvals at the Nasinu Town Council and more effective and efficient services to the ratepayers.

Tomorrow’s launch will be held from 2pm-4.30pm at the Nasinu Town Council Chamber.
