Non-Communicable Diseases matching grant 2011 consultations

18/11/2010

The NCD matching grant initiative promotes private public partnership in the national fight against diabetes, heart diseases, cancers, mental illnesses and accidents/injuries.

Non-government, civil society and faith based organisations have, over the past two years, collaborated on this initiate with the Ministry of Health.

In this program, organisations are encouraged to submit project proposals of up to $5000, clearly outlining how they may utilise the fund.

The programs in this initiative target behavior change in terms of smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity.

Organisations also submit proposals that target NCDs like diabetes, heart, stroke, cancers, mental illnesses and accidents and injuries.

Programmes are in the form of awareness raising, demonstrations, technical support, media and so on.

All interested organizations are now invited to a consultation that will be held at the Ministry of Health headquarters on Monday 13 December 2010 (2-5pm).

In this meeting the organizations will have an opportunity to walk through the National NCD Strategic Plan 2010-2014 and learn more about project proposals for 2011.

NCD prevention and control is everyone’s business and is not the sole responsibility of the health ministry.

The NCD matching grant promotes partnership between the public and the private sector in addressing this deadly scourge.
