Office location rationalisation

24/01/2011

The Public Service Commission is progressively working on the relocation of various Government Offices in an effort to bring about cost savings, better synergies in public administration and improved accessibility in terms of Public Service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary for Public Service Commission, Mr Parmesh Chand said that the “clustering” of Ministry of Education Offices around their head office in Marela House has greatly improved accessibility for members of the public and other stakeholders.

The range of education programmes, facilities and administrative functions of the Ministry.

Likewise we are working closely with Ministry of Justice,  Electoral Reform and Anti-Corruption and the Office of the Solicitor-General to centralize the Offices of the Judiciary, Chief Registrar, the Courts and the Legal Aid Commission all around Government Buildings.

This has necessitated the move out of the Government Buildings of the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, which is being accommodated in the GCC Complex in Draiba.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will be co-located with the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, occupying the other one and half floors within the same complex.

Both these relocations will happen within January.

Mr Chand said both these Ministries will have brand new  Offices and with their ideal location, they will be in a perfect position to continue to perform their role and functions in an effective and efficient manner.
