Schools are encouraged to open E-mail accounts for easy communication and fast delivery of messages.
With the advent of Information and Communications Technology industry and media technology into school systems, some schools already have e-mail addresses.
Those that have not done so are advised to open their accounts if they have the opportunity and can gain accessibility to IT facilities.
“Some schools have taken advantage of the availability of Internet and other communication technology and have opened e-mail accounts. This is encouraging since it assists in the communication between schools and the Education Ministry.”
“Those schools that have not done so are requested to open accounts if they are accessible to IT facilities and networks,” said the Education Minister, Mr Filipe Bole.
The ministry is also studying E-learning as another direction of delivering education services to schools.
Already the ministry has a School-of-the-Air Unit at the Fiji National University Campus at Nasinu.
The system is using a telecast mode of learning instruction.
With the inception of E-learning, the mode of learning will progress from telecast to narrow cast, something the Education Ministry has its sights on.
