Operational Update

26/07/2010

The Water Authority of Fiji in its latest update of water supply has the following operational situation.

Suva
·      All 3 pumps are operational at the Savura Raw Water Intake.
·      Reservoir level at the Tamavua Reservoir at 10am is 2.05 meters – this is below average
·      Most of the areas that are supplied from Tamavua are receiving supply this morning except for the high areas in the general vicinity of Mr Beni Naiveli’s farm which is experiencing service disruption.
·      A water tank placed in the area has been refilled to cater for their needs

Water Authority wishes to advise all those receiving their supply from Tamavua to store water this morning as the level is likely to drop in the afternoon because of less inflow into the Tamavua Treatment Plant.

Two trucks will be filling water tanks placed at strategic places and carting water to affected areas.

Rewa

·      Burst mains occurred this morning at Vusuya and Nadali - both works are expected to be completed this afternoon.

·      All areas are receiving water

Labasa/Savusavu/Nabouwalu/Taveuni/Seaqaqa/Bua

·      All areas are receiving water

WA says they are into the dry months when their traditional water sources dry up and this affects supply.

While WAF is exploring other avenues of addressing this issue, customers are requested to use water wisely, by ensuring that taps are turned off tightly, use water from other sources to water gardens and wash cars, etc.

This will ensure that there is enough water in our reticulation system to meet everyone’s needs.

Your cooperation is highly appreciated.
