Since 2012, Tate & Lyle Engineers have contributed immensely to the on-going technical developments at all four sugar mills in the country.

And despite the various issues that have haltered the industry’s progress such as land issue, cut in prices and many others, the engineers have gone a notch further in introducing various ideas and concepts that has to some extent brought about changes within the industry through the reform process.

Currently, there are four engineers in each mill providing the necessary technical advice and capacity building which is intended also to bring about best practices and product quality. There is also a Head of Agriculture, a Mill Chemist, a Control and Instrumentation Engineer, Head of Factory operations, Procurement Manager including a Cane Transport Logistics Manager.

Technical Advisor Paul Worthington said that the inclusion and injection of these specific responsibilities will certainly raise the awareness on maintaining quality production with more benefits anticipated for farmers in the future.
