PM RABUKA COMMENDS RA PROVINCE'S CONTRIBUTIONS & URGES UNITY FOR POSITIVE CHANGE

Prime Minister Rabuka, in his address at the Ra Provincial Council meeting in Nanukuloa, Ra today, emphasised the significance of gratitude and unity while acknowledging the province's vital contributions to Fiji's development. The two-day meeting has garnered attention for its focus on crucial issues, including climate change, economic development, and social progress.

Highlighting the need for gratitude, Prime Minister Rabuka remarked, "We should be thankful and praise God for all that has happened, and rest assured that his will be done in Fiji."

He highlighted the importance of recognising the blessings that the nation has received and uniting to address challenges collectively.

Addressing the province's unique position, the prime minister acknowledged that Ra is among the less developed regions in Fiji. 

However, he emphasised the immense contributions of the province to the overall development of the nation. 

"Many sons and daughters of the province have reached the pinnacle of society and have led amicably to the well-being of the nation," he stated.

One of the key themes of the meeting was climate change. Prime Minister Rabuka expressed his awareness of the province's concerns regarding climate change and assured his full support.

"I have heard about it and fully support them," he affirmed.

He also urged the province's residents to recognise Fiji's role in leading the fight against climate change on a global level.

Turning his attention to social and economic matters, Prime Minister Rabuka disclosed that the government has allocated a substantial budget to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs. 

He expressed hope that these funds would be utilised judiciously to uplift the well-being of the iTaukei people. The emphasis on responsible utilisation of resources reflected the government's commitment to fostering positive change at the grassroots level.

In a call for unity and collective action, Prime Minister Rabuka urged the people of Ra to challenge negative perceptions and stereotypes. He rallied for a united effort to overcome challenges that have plagued society, including crime, unemployment, and poverty. 

"Let us fight the many problems of our society, our nation," he urged, stressing the significance of a cohesive approach to societal progress.

Provincial Council meetings continue to be a platform for open dialogue and engagement between the government and local leadership. As the various provincial council meeting progresses, attendees remain hopeful that the collective efforts of both the national and provincial authorities will lead to tangible improvements for the iTaukei people and Fiji as a whole.
