27/12/2024

Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka today honoured the late ‘Na Gone Turaga Na Ratu,’ Na Taukei Burelevu o Naisanokonoko Ratu Ilisoni Qionibaravi Ravoka, with a cordial reguregu presentation at Ucunivanua Village, Verata, Tailevu.

While presenting his reguregu, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka reflected on the enduring traditional ties between Verata and Navatu in Cakaudrove, emphasising the deep cultural connection that binds the two Vanua.

PM Rabuka shared that it was only fitting for his delegation from Navatu to present their respects ahead of the formal government tribute planned for tomorrow.

“We grieve alongside Ratu’s extended family, the Vanua vakaturaga of Verata, and everyone whose lives he touched through his remarkable journey and service,” Prime Minister Rabuka expressed.

The PM further added, “We find solace in knowing that Na Gone Turaga Na Ratu has entered eternal rest. It has been a privilege to have known him.”

The funeral service will be held at the Ucunivanua Methodist Church on Saturday, the 28th of December, before proceeding to the Chiefly burial site, where the late chief will be laid to rest.
