PM VISITS JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama this morning inspected renovation and upgrading works at the Judicial Department.

Chief Justice, Anthony Gates told the Prime Minister that there was an immense amount of work that needed to be carried out ranging from the creation of courts, provision of public services and proper maintenance of public conveniences and surrounding areas.

Mr Gates said that the Prime Minister was also made aware of the cramped conditions that the support staff of the Judicial Department worked under.

“The purpose of the Prime Minister’s visit is to get an appreciation of what we have to do and how much of a task we have before us”, Justice Gates said.

The Prime Minister was also accompanied by the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the Chief Registrar, Irani Wakishta Arachchi.
