PM brief on cyclone operations

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama was given a brief this morning at the National Disaster Management Office on the status of operation carried out in response to Tropical Cyclone Tomas.

Commodore Bainimarama was concerned at the current DISMAC practice to using  schools as evacuation centres. He has reminded the NDMO to look at the possibility of alternative facilities for the evacuees after Cyclone Tomas operation.

"Schools are to resume immediately after this operation on Tropical Cyclone Tomas" PM said.

Commodore Bainimarama has advised officers from the Royal Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police Forces to clean-up schools soon after Topical Cyclone Tomas  passes and that schools should resume immediately.
 
The Prime Minister proceeded on a visit to the Commissioner Central’s Office for a brief on operations in that division.
