A new teachers quarters was commissioned by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama at Naceva District School in Kadavu this morning.
The two bedroom house worth $34,000 was financed through the Commissioner Eastern’s office and built by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces engineers who are on Kadavu.
Naceva District School head teacher Josua Rasoki said the school was grateful to Government for its support in the education of their children.
“Government has supported the school in the past with the building of a student’s dormitory, a teachers quarters, the school generator, water supply and now another teacher’s quarter,” Mr Rasoki said.
Commodore Bainimarama told students and teachers of the school that Government would also facilitate the supply of an additional 20 desks and chairs for the school.
“Since I came here in 2009 we’ve been faced with the lack of desks and chairs for students and today we are thankful to the Prime Minister for promising to send us these desks and chairs in a week’s time,” Rasoki said.
Commodore Bainimarama also assured teachers and students of Naceva that Government would look into the improvement of the students dining hall but the school will have to hire a carpenter and prepare lists of the materials that will need to be used to construct the dining hall.
School management will need to liaise closely with the provincial administrator Kadavu for this project.
The Fijian Government is committed to the development of rural schools as espoused in Pillar 9 of the Peoples Charter of “Making Fiji a Knowledge-Based Society.”
