The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama ended his visit to the Fiji Battalion in Sinai by travelling to the remote sites located in the Southern part of Fiji's Area of Operation.
Commodore Bainimarama was pleased to note the enthusiasm of the men under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Qiliho who have received high praise from the Force Commander and the Director General of the Multinational Forces and Observers.
The Fiji Battalion has once again portrayed the ability of the RFMF to carry out operations under a Multinational Force and exercise its professionalism in a demanding environment.
Fijibatt operates on the International Border Line (IBL) between the Gaza Strip , Israel and Egypt.
This sensitive region is also home to many Bedouin tribes and has been in the news in the past in relation to the tunnels used by smugglers from either side that have been a cause of tension in the area.
Commodore Bainimarama has stated that Fiji is committed to peace in the region during his speech at the UN General Assembly last month and the deployment of our troops in the area is a living testament to this.
