PM to attend Arab League Meet

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will attend an Arab League meeting in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Commodore Bainimarama will be accompanied by the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, in the meeting  expected to be attended  by Pacific Island leaders.  

Permanent Secretary for the Prime Ministers Office, Colonel Pio Tikoduadua says the Prime Minister’s attendance at UAE  meeting follows an invitation from the Arab League.

“ This is in relation to a fund set out by the League for  island developing states like Fiji.

“ The Prime Minister will be there at their invitation with other heads of states and heads of government to see how  Fiji benefit from this meeting.

Representatives of more than 30 Arab and Pacific countries will attend the meeting.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan who recently visited Fiji and other Pacific Island countries.

The meeting will discuss ways to boost trade and investment between the Arab states and Pacific Island countries.
