The Police have confirmed the death of a 49 year old security officer, Mr Eseroma Muasobu of Matanagata, Vatakoula. He was found dead beside Narau Creek. It is suspected that he had crossed the flooded Culvert Bridge when swept away by strong currents.
Authorities again remind all Fijians to stay out of flood-affected waters and to remain cautious. While Government has made this announcement repeatedly on every channel of communication—from the news media to Facebook—it implores Fijians to pass along word of the dangers that still exist.
Anyone who sees people, especially children, in danger areas such as flood waters, should alert the authorities immediately.
