Staff of the Poverty Monitoring Unit at the Office of the Prime Minister recently completed a week long training workshop at the RFMF Force Training Group (FTG) in Nasinu.
Organised as part of a capacity building exercise for improved leadership and management skills, the workshop was also aimed at developing cohesiveness for the unit.
Poverty Monitoring Unit director Mr Meleti Bainimarama said that such training organised by the RFMF Force Training Group instills discipline that helps with good leadership and skill management.
“Such trainings when conducted will enhance the proper management of time and greatly improve on productivity in the workplace,” he said.
Also embedded in the programmes are simple but yet effective physical exercises that improve on the physical well being of officers especially for those who tend to sit whole day in the office.
A part of the training programmes organised by the FTG for organisations, the workshop sees participants being tutored on ethos and values, aspects of discipline, communications in workplace, participation in team work and leadership functions.
“The training not only teaches the staff of the Poverty Monitoring Unit the importance of time management in the workplace but also on the management of time at home and the importance of the family unit to provide moral support which helps with productivity in the workplace,” said Mr Bainimarama.
“This is one of the core functions of FTG and by having the workshop there we have envisioned a more productive workforce that instills discipline and one that manages time well for the betterment of the unit,” he adds.
