His Excellency the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau played host to more than 300 guests at Government House during the Fiji Day reception to celebrate Fiji's 42 years of Independence.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama joined members of the diplomatic corps, heads of international and regional organisations, the business community and members of civil societies.
The Head of State thanked the distinguished guests that were present and in proposing the official toast, he added that the occasion was for Fiji, its people and the 42 long years that we have achieved as a nation and more so the future that was before us all.
The Presidential function had also concluded two days of celebrations held in Labasa, Lautoka, Levuka with the main event held in Suva.
