The Department of Youth and Sports is grateful and sincerely thankful to the Prime Minister’s office for the kind donation rendered to the department.
The Yavitu Youth Training Centre located in Naceva, Kadavu received a donation of 50 desks and chairs from the Prime Minister’s office.
During the Prime Minister’s visit to Kadavu in May last year, a request was made on the centre’s behalf by the senior youth officer from the Department of Youth and Sports to the Prime Minister for assistance.
The centre provides training in basic carpentry, general agriculture and small engine repair work for youths in Kadavu. Since its establishment in 1987, trainees at the centre have been without proper desks and chairs.
The Department of Youth and Sports also operates centres in Sigatoka, Naleba and Nagere that facilitate youth training. Training conducted in these centres include capacity building and Seeds of Success programmes for improved livelihood.
