PRIORITISE FOOD AND SECURITY - PM

01/04/2012

PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has instructed Government officials to see to it that there is ample supply of food rations and water at the evacuation centres.

The PM is currently touring flood affected areas in the central division and attended a briefing at the Nausori Police Station this morning.

He witnessed first-hand the situation in the area and expressed concern over the security of the people, which he asked the police to prioritise.

In terms of infrastructure, the central division has normal water and power supply.

“There shouldn’t be any reports of any shortage of food and water in the evacuations,” the PM said.

Prime Minister Bainimarama has expressed concern over the safety and security of people living in the affected areas especially those in Nausori and low lying areas in the central division.

He has also asked the officials to activate the evacuation centres in Nausori, Rewa and Tailevu as soon as the need arises.

An evacuation centre has already been activated in Nausori at the Dilkusha Boys and those seeking shelter are advised to go there.
