Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary for Justice and Anti-Corruption Mr Christopher Pryde has announced that as a temporary measure in order to assist the public at this busy time of the year, the Births, Deaths and Marriages Office on the Ground Floor of Suvavou House (the “Registry”) will extend its opening hours over the next two weeks as follows:
· From 12 January to 22 January 2010 the hours of opening will be from 8.30am to 6.00pm.
· In addition, the Registry in Suva will be open to members of the public on two Saturdays mornings (16 and 23 January 2010) from 9.00am to 12.00pm.
“Recognising that this is a busy time of the year for many people with schools starting back soon, it has been decided to extend the Registry’s opening hours in Suva to 6.00pm for the next two weeks as a temporary measure to assist the public. The Registries in Suva and Lautoka will also open for three hours on Saturday for the next two weeks from 9.00am to 12.00pm”, he said.
The Ministry of Justice is also reminding members of the public that the printing of Birth Certificates can be completed at the following Post Fiji outlets throughout the country:
• Korovou
• Nasinu
• Taveuni
• Rotuma
• Savusavu
• Samabula
• Nabua
Charges for this service at Post Fiji outlets are $5.00 per birth certificate.
