PS OPM RECEIVES PROMINENT INDIAN POLITICIAN

Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr Yogesh Karan this morning received a courtesy call from one of India’s prominent politicians, Mr Vijay Jolly.

Mr Jolly is a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a party led by the 14th and current Indian Prime Minister, Honourable Narendra Modi.
In the meeting, he congratulated the Permanent Secretary for being an exceptional representative of the Fijian Government while serving for six years as Fiji’s High Commissioner to India.

Mr Jolly said that the Permanent Secretary’s proven track-record of successful service further enhanced a good relationship between Fiji and India and also strengthened bilateral relations and learning exchanges.
Mr Jolly was accompanied by a group of executive officials of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF).

Discussions at the meeting were also focused on the programmes and initiatives presently undertaken by UPF, among which is the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace.

This is a worldwide association of parliamentarians which provides a platform for integration of experience and wisdom in search of solutions to our world’s problems.

Also discussed at the meeting was the scheduled Asia-Pacific Universal Peace Forum to be held in Cambodia in November this year and the world summit that will be held in South Korea next year.

The delegation has also extended its invitation to the Prime Minister, Honourable Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama to be part of the forum later this year.
