Public Service Commission chairman Mr Josefa Serulagilagi, announced following Cabinet approval, that there will be adjustments implemented in the salaries of Fiji Police Force and Nurses respectively in line with the recommendations of the Job Evaluation Exercise (JEE) undertaken in 2003.
Mr Serulagilagi confirmed that approval was given for implementation of Phase 4 of the JEE, that was payment increases backdated to January 1st, 2009 to all Police Officers in grade PL08 – PL01 to cover the period January 1st , 2009 to December 31st 2009 only. This will amount to $2.86million.
With regards to Nurses, Mr Serulagilagi confirmed that approval has been given to a 3 per cent salary increase across the board for all nurses backdated to 01/01/2010, which comes to a total of $958,180. The Ministry of Finance and PSC are co-ordinating arrangements to effect both these adjustments in Pay 26/10 this year on 23/12/10.
Mr Serulagilagi said the relevant recommendations accepted by Government from the JEE of 2003 were being progressively implemented, with adjustments made in the first instance to salaries of Officers in the Discipline Forces and now the Nurses as well. Mr Serulagilagi said the PSC would consider relevant aspects of the JEE recommendations for the rest of the civil service later.
