The Public Service Commission is firm on its zero tolerance policy to weed out corruption and abuse in the Civil Service.

The PSC chairman Josefa Serulagilagi reminded all Civil Servants to adhere to and be thoroughly aware of the Public Service Code of Conduct.

Mr Serulagilagi made the comment during the commission’s monthly meeting this week, where the appointments of two civil servants were terminated and five were severely reprimanded.

He said civil servants must ensure that proper procedures were followed in the implementation of work programs in all ministries and departments and that these were carried out effectively and efficiently.

Mr Serulagilagi said the commission had put in place appropriate policies and conducted reach-out awareness programs, induction training and other vital trainings for civil servants to understand their roles and responsibilities.

“Should they deliberately be involved in corruption, disciplinary action will be taken hard on civil servants,” the PSC chairman said.
