In a powerful step toward equitable healthcare, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Hon. Biman Chand Prasad officially launched the Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Foundation in Nadi, praising it as a game-changer for those who cannot afford critical medical treatment.

The Foundation, the charitable arm of PSH Hospitals, is committed to delivering free or heavily subsidised complex medical procedures to the “Poorest of the Poor” in Fiji and across the Pacific.

“This is a momentous achievement,” Professor Prasad said .

“PSH is delivering world-class healthcare while ensuring that cost is not a barrier to access.”

Located near Nadi International Airport, PSH is home to Fiji’s largest 130-bed specialty private hospital and has recently commissioned a state-of-the-art cardiology department. Plans are also underway to introduce radiotherapy services for cancer patients.

Professor Prasad also highlighted government priorities ahead of the upcoming 2025–2026 National Budget, reaffirming the Coalition Government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector.

“We’re investing in modernising healthcare, especially rural infrastructure, and ensuring the timely availability of medicines and equipment,” he said.

“Collaborations with private providers like PSH will help us bridge gaps and reach more people.”

He further praised PSH’s community partnerships, low GP consultation fees, and free services for senior citizens, calling the hospital a model of inclusive healthcare.

“Our vision is to make Fiji the hub of healthcare in the Pacific—and the PSH Foundation is a key step in that direction.”
