PUBLIC ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND CONSULTATIONS ON TOWN PLANNING ACT

The Ministry of Local Government, Housing and Environment will hold public consultations on the review of Fiji's Town Planning Act (1978) and the Subdivision of Land Act (1973).

The Department of Town and Country Planning in consultation with the Solicitor General’s Office has prepared the first draft of the revised Town Planning Act (Cap 139) and the Subdivision of Land Act (Cap 140).

Public Consultations and awareness is planned for each town and the surrounding areas to present the proposed amended draft Town Planning Act and the Subdivision of Land Act to the general public and to explain the new process for lodging development and rezoning applications, and Subdivision applications for agricultural subdivisions.

An invitation is extended to the general public and the relevant stakeholders to express their views and recommendations on the amendments.

The consultations are scheduled for 12 weeks and is expected to start in Suva on 10th November.

Copies of the Draft Town Planning Act and the Subdivision of Land Act are available at the Office of the Director of Town and Country Planning offices at 1st Floor, FFA House, Gladstone Road Suva, 1st Floor Rogorogoivuda Building, Tavewa Avenue, Lautoka for the Western Division and Local Timber Ltd. Building, Nasekula Road, Labasa for the Northern Division.
