PUBLICATION OF THE NAMES OF SUCCESSFUL VOTER REGISTRATION CLERKS

15/06/2012

Tomorrow’s Fiji Sun (Sat 16/6) will carry the names of the 1,150 successful applicants for voter registration clerks, to assist in the upcoming period of electronic voter registration.

These successful applicants will be trained by the Canadian Firm CODE, Inc. over the next two weeks leading up to the commencement of the registration period, on July 3.

“The transparent selection process was based solely on merit. No other factors were considered,” the Attorney-General and Minister for Electoral Reform, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said. “All applicants have also undergone police background checks and have demonstrated that they possess the necessary skills.”

“For the first time in the history of Fiji, 70% of the voter registration clerks will be women,” said the Attorney-General.

During the registration process, these officials will assist Fijians by providing general assistance at voter registration centers. This includes helping voters to fill out voter forms, entering information into the voter database, taking photographs and thumbprints, and issuing voter registration cards.

All Fijians who applied for a position as a voter registration clerk should consult tomorrow’s Fiji Sun.
