Punjas has unveiled its new $55 million Distribution Centre in Lautoka, set to become the largest warehouse in the Pacific, with a storage capacity of 24,000 pallets.
This cutting-edge facility, currently under construction, underscores Punjas' commitment to enhancing its supply chain capabilities across Fiji and the broader Pacific region.
The Centre is a key part of the company's expansion strategy as it looks to meet growing demand for its food and non-food consumables, further solidifying its position as one of Fiji's largest privately owned enterprises.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Biman Prasad, visited the Punjas facilities to get a firsthand look at the new Distribution Centre and learn about the company’s operational dynamics and strategic initiatives.
"This new facility is a significant milestone not only for Punjas but for the entire Pacific region," Professor Prasad said.
"It will undoubtedly enhance the efficiency of regional supply chains and create new economic opportunities while strengthening Fiji’s position as a key player in the Pacific's growing market."
Punjas, established in 1935, is gearing up for its 90th anniversary next year and continues to thrive with over 1,500 employees.
During the visit, the Punjas management team highlighted the company’s role in not just the local economy but also its growing international presence through its Fijian-made product portfolio.
Professor Prasad also toured the corporate headquarters and the company’s biscuit manufacturing operations, which continue to innovate and support the company’s vast distribution network.
Punjas, known for its corporate social responsibility efforts, also celebrated the expansion of the Punjas Medical Centre with a $2.25 million investment, providing critical healthcare support to the community.
Additionally, the extension of the Punjas Children's Park in Lautoka demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for Fijians.
The visit concluded with a meeting between Professor Prasad and the senior directors of Punjas, Mr. Kanti Punja and Mr. Jagjiwan Punja, where the company’s vision for the future and its role in fostering economic growth were discussed.
As Punjas approaches its 90th anniversary, it remains a key driver of Fiji’s economic development and community welfare.
