The Minister for Women has urged all parents to support their children’s education, speaking at the International Rural Women’s day celebration in Labasa, Dr Jiko Luveni said parents must take the initiative to assist them in subjects where they are weak.
Dr Luveni said in this age where competition is stiff and educational qualification becomes important, all parents need to prioritize their time wisely especially with the development of their children.
“I urge parents to get engaged in our children’s education. Look at their school reports and where they are weak; help them by utilising retired teachers to provide them with extra tutorial.”
Dr Luveni reiterated the importance of vocational training institutes which provide facilities for students interested in a particular trade and exposes them to more hands on skill building and land utilisation training.
