People need to utilise Commissioner North office
People need to utilise Commissioner North office
09/03/2011
The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama advised people of Bua to fully utilise the office of the Commissioner Northern on developments that they need.
He gave the advice while visiting Nadi District School, outside Nabouwalu in Bua yesterday.
While there, villagers from the district presented their traditional apology or
vakamatanigasau
to the head of Government, apologising for the actions of some villagers during political upheavals in the year 2000.
The Prime Minister also visited Nadi District School and inspected the new school block that will accommodate a computer laboratory and library.
For the first time, children from the district are learning computer education, an essential skill that meets the usual requirements of the current workforce.
The new block was constructed under the 2010 Commissioner Northern development programme.
Uplifting education standards, allowing for greater access to education and building a more skilful and knowledge-based society are important issues of development for the Government.
Commodore Bainimarama said recently, development focus had increased for Vanua Levu and education was a critical sector.
He said these were all happening as Government also worked to build a stronger northern economy as stated in the Look North Policy.
