Permanent Secretaries sign agreement

08/03/2011

Eleven out of 21 Permanent Secretaries signed their performance agreement at PSC’s Berkley Crescent Headquarters today.

Chairman for the Public Service Commission, Mr Josefa Serulagilagi says the performance agreement focuses on the framework set out in each of the Ministries Annual Corporate Plan of the diverse range of activities carried out during the year and how these activities contribute to the objectives of each Ministerial portfolio during the Permanent Secretaries term in office.

Mr Serulagilagi said the most important aspect of the Annual Corporate Plans is that each plan is directly linked to the Peoples Charter for Change Peace and Progress (PCCP) and the Roadmap FOR Sustainable Socio-Economic Development and Democracy (RSSED) which guides Governments overall direction in pursuance of developmental activities and provision of a whole range of social and economic services.

He said these accountabilities are aimed at prioritizing the delivery and quality of public goods and services and ensures that public funds and resources are used in an accountable, transparent and efficient manner.

At the end of each year, PSC reviews the performance of each of the Permanent Secretaries.

The signing is an annual event that takes place at the first quarter of each new  year.
