Running into its 5th year of competition, the Kula Film Awards and Dance Competition is fast gaining popularity amongst our secondary schools. This year, a record of 24 schools are taking part.
These schools come from as far as Levuka, Labasa, Nadroga, Nadi and Lautoka and there are nearby schools from Nausori, Suva, Navua and Tailevu.
Since its inception, the Education Ministry has been supporting students’ participation in this exercise, considering the aesthetic values students gain from it.
On a closer look, such enriching activities could be a gateway for students to recognise their potentials and hone their talents in a domain that opens a window to a wide array of lucrative opportunities.
Students can become producers, directors, actors/actresses, make-up artists, costume designers, music directors, camera crew, scriptwriters, computer animation artists, graphic designers, lightings and special effects crew, and even stunts men, to name a few.
Packaged into 2 pulsating and exciting nights of competition (Friday, July 9 – Saturday, July 10) at the Tattersals Leisure Centre, Fiji is in for a treat as students will showcase their creative talent in film and dance- from Bulawood to Bollywood and finally to Hollywood.
The Ministry calls for the nation’s support in an activity that is bound to open career paths for our students.
Tickets are selling for $5.00 for each night at the FAVC Office- Civic House, Suva and at South Pacific Recordings- Burns Philip Building, Usher Street, Suva.
Proceeds from the event will be distributed to all participating schools to subsidise production costs.
The Education Ministry extends its appreciation to the Fiji Audio Visual Commission (FAVC) for spearheading this show and to all sponsors who have made the show possible.
