The Fiji Police Force aims to reduce crime to a level so tourists can feel safe when visiting the country says the acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Joeli Baleilevuka.

He made the comment in an exclusive interview with the Ministry of Information, where he highlighted plans to tackle crime.

“As for our crime trend, statistics indicate we have done fairly well,” Mr Baleilevuka said.

“With arrangements we have in place crimes have been significantly reduced in some areas.”

He added that crime statistics in Fiji would be reduced to a minimal level so that tourists could see Fiji as a safe destination to visit.

“Crimes against person, crimes against properties have been reduced in the past and of course we are going to continue to pursue this further. With our better control tourists will feel safe to come to Fiji,” Mr Baleilevuka added.
