Police marks remembrance day

The Fiji Police Force today marked the annual Police Remembrance Day at the Police Academy Nasova.

September 29th holds a special significance for Police throughout, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Australia, New Zealand and the Solomon Islands.

It is a day that Police take to honor officers whose lives were lost while performing their duties and those through illness or other circumstances.

Chief Guest and Commander of the Fiji Navy, Francis Kean paid tribute to the officers and acknowledged their family. He said the occasion is very special for all in the police jurisdiction to commemorate officers who gave their lives in line of duty.

“ Police work has become more demanding and complex from its traditional role of investigating crimes to community policing. Fiji Police is inspirational in building our nation and the Jesus strategy is unique in the Police environment where in the eyes of many it is a taboo”.
