The Commissioner of Police Commodore Esala Teleni says the Police Force will need the support of everyone in the community in order to fight Sexual offences and domestic violence crimes in Fiji
In closing the symposium on the elimination of sexual offences and domestic violence, Commodore Teleni said only through having a strong community base and support, will the Police ably fight this crime.
“This symposium has provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and dialogue between the NGOs, Ministries and Departments and Private sector officials.
“It was an opportunity to discuss matters on an equal footing. Your knowledge, experiences and ideas you were able to share with us will contribute greatly to the work of the Fiji Police Force,” he said.
Commodore Teleni assured the symposium of the Police Force’s commitment in ensuring the effective combat of such offences.
“I am confident that the secretariat will make good use of the results of this symposium in developing a constructive and effective action plan not only for the police but for all the stakeholders.
“Even though the scope of areas of work for the police are wide they have given due attention to the area of domestic violence and sexual offences,” he said.
