It’s only four days away before Term 2 begins on Monday, May 17, 2010.
The Education Ministry, in its advisory role, would like to remind teachers to start preparing for Term 2.
For teachers serving in the maritime schools, arrangements should be done now for their return trip; thus the need to make regular checks with the Marine Department.
Marking of exercise books and projects, preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans and lesson notes should be ready by Day 1. All these little but important paper works, when prepared in advance, give teachers confidence to begin their work.
Principals and Head Teachers are advised that if there are staffing issues, they have to be sorted out before Monday. This is to avoid unnecessary running around for replacement teachers.
Moreover, targets for the new Term and relevant strategies must be in place to ensure they are achieved.
The Ministry fully understands the activities of Term 2, especially with rugby, as the dominant sport. However, the education of children must remain a priority.
Finally, the Ministry trusts that Term 2 will be another exciting and challenging Term for all teachers.
