The Prime Minister Commodore Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama will begin his tour of the garden island - Taveuni by opening the extension to the island’s police station this morning.
The Vanua Lalagavesi headed by the Turaga na Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu is awaiting Commodore Bainimarama’s arrival at Waiyevo grounds.
Commodore Bainimarama will be accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome before he opens the police station extension.
From Waiyevo, the Prime Minister will visit Tutu Training Centre along with a virgin coconut oil business at Wainiyaku.
He is also expected to tour dalo farms and inspect farm roads at Delaivuna, where some of the country’s largest dalo producers are located.
Agricultural officials will brief the Prime Minister on the status of dalo production and the immense role Taveuni farmers play in increasing dalo exports.
Commodore Bainimarama will meet with tourism stakeholders and business houses at a cocktail dinner hosted by the latter.
