Close to 100 students of Sote District School, located in the interior of Tailevu about 20 kilometers from Nausori Town, will reap the benefits of Government assistance rendered in 2010.
The Ministry of Provincial Development, National Disaster Management and Sugar assisted the school with two teachers quarters that cost $50,000.
The village contributed to the development by providing mahogany timber.
The assistance was provided under the education building grant, formerly administered by the Ministry of Education in mid 2010.
Sote District School was established in 1960 to cater for students within the village of Sote in the tikina of Vugalei.
Head teacher, Mr Iliesa Bavai termed Government assistance, outstanding.
He said for the first time the school received a large share of government assistance.
“I would like to thank the government for the timely assistance it provided to the school,” Mr Bavia said.
“ Villagers own a large area of mahogany trees.
“It was government’s initiative that encouraged them to give something back to their school.”
