14/02/2012

The Fiji Red Cross Society (FRCS) has lauded the coordinated approach taken by the National Disaster Management Office during the recent floods in the western division.

“The distribution of the rations, security, and other logistics have been up to expectations”, said Eseroma Ledua, the FRCS disaster coordinator.

“The authorities and other non – governmental organizations (NGO’s), and international partners have partnered really well which is good.”

He added that during a disaster in the future, people can be rest assured that all the different government ministries and departments together with NGO’s and foreign partners will always work together.

Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki also made similar sentiments saying that coordination amongst all the different stakeholders has been the reason for the fast turnaround.
