REMOTE NAMOSI COMMUNITY DRIVES FUTURE WITH NEW 9-TONNE TRUCK

13/02/2026

In the rugged highlands of Namosi, where access is often a challenge, the people of Naraiyawa Village are proving that distance is no barrier to progress.
Naiyalasa Investment Pte Ltd — a company fully owned by the Mataqali Naiyalasa of the Yavusa Nakurukruvakatini — has received a major boost with the handover of a 9-tonne dumper truck, strengthening its growing agricultural business.

Operating on a 46.36-hectare agricultural lease valued at $250,000, the company produces dalo, cassava, vegetables, and other short-term cash crops that are in high demand.

Driven by the collective efforts of the Mataqali’s youths, women, and men, the business continues to expand. The company already owns a digger, a 4-ton Isuzu truck, and an excavator — all actively generating income and supporting land development.

The truck was funded through the TLTB Taukei Development Fund Facility (TDFF) under a loan arrangement requiring no deposit and offering a low 2.5 percent interest rate, making growth more accessible for the landowning unit.

Minister for iTaukei Affairs and Chairman of the TLTB Board of Trustees, Hon. Ifereimi Vasu, officiated the handover on 10 February 2026, encouraging the Mataqali to continue using available support to strengthen their entrepreneurial efforts while meeting traditional obligations to the vanua, lotu, and matanitu.
During a talanoa session, TLTB CEO Solomone Nata praised the Mataqali’s dedication, describing their progress as an example for nearby villages including Naraiyawa, Naqarawai, and Wainimakutu.

Recent support initiatives — including nearly $200,000 in farming assistance handed to 32 farmers in nearby Wainimakutu — and the opening of the TLTB fortnightly service office at Dada, Namosi, are already creating a ripple effect, unlocking land use and business opportunities across the interior.

From one of Viti Levu’s most remote regions, Naiyalasa Investment is showing how vision, unity, and the right support can turn traditional land into lasting prosperity.
