RESOLUTIONS OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICES COMMISSION MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2023

Suva, Fiji - The Constitutional Offices Commission convened on September 8, 2023, to deliberate on several critical matters. The commission, entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing constitutional offices and appointments in Fiji, reached significant resolutions during this meeting.
 
Appointment to the Public Service Commission
The Commission deliberated on the vacancy within the Public Service Commission, as per the provisions of section 125(2) of the Constitution. In accordance with its mandate, the Constitutional Offices Commission has resolved to recommend Mr. Penijamini Lomaloma as a member of the Public Service Commission.
 
Appointment to the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission
The Commission also addressed the vacancy within the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, as mandated by section 45(2) of the Constitution. Following thorough deliberation, the Commission has resolved to recommend Ms. Alefina Vuki as a member of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
 
Selection Panel for the Supervisor of Elections Position
In accordance with its responsibilities, the Commission has appointed the following individuals to the selection panel for the Supervisor of Elections position:
Mr. Sekove Naqiolevu as chairperson;
Mr. Eroni Maopa and;
Mr. Bhupendra Solanki.
 
Selection Panel for the Commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service
The Commission has also appointed the following individuals to the selection panel for the Commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service:
Mr. Samuela Vadei as chairperson;
Ms. Prem Narayan and;
Mr. Prem Singh.
 
Independent Committee for Remuneration and Allowances
In accordance with section 136 of the Constitution, the Commission has resolved to appoint an independent committee to advise on the appropriate remuneration and allowances for all constitutional offices. The committee will consist of the following members:
Mr. Cama Raimuria as chairperson;
Ms. Salote Uluinaceva and;
Ms. Elenoa Biukoto.
 
Review of Standard Operating Procedures
The Commission has committed to a timely review of its Standard Operating Procedures within 30 days of their circulation by the Secretary.
