22/03/2022

The Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Osea Cawaru met with Global Harvest Pty Ltd CEO, Basu Dahal to discuss the recruitment of 38 Fijian workers to work under the Australian Seasonal Worker Program yesterday.

Global Harvest Pty Ltd is a labour hire company from Queensland, Australia and has been providing work for Pacific Islanders to work on farms and engaged in fruit picking, pruning and packing on a nine (9) months employment contract in the agriculture industry.

Mr. Dahal confirmed that Global Harvest Pty Ltd has recruited and mobilised 19 pilot Fijian workers in February this year and is here in Fiji for the second time to conduct interviews and other necessary arrangements.

“Our purpose here in Fiji is to recruit more Fijian workers after the good work performance portrayed by the pilot Fijian workers from Tabia.”

“Thank you to the Fijian Government for allowing us to recruit from Fiji and the positive contribution and good outcome of these workers has made us return for more,” said Mr. Dahal.

He added that he wishes to prove that Fijians are better and hardworking and are the best preference under the labour mobility program.

PS Cawaru commended the sentiments by the employer and hoped that Fijians will continue to work hard for more opportunities in the near future.

Mr. Cawaru extended the Fijian Government’s appreciation to the Australian Government and Global Harvest Pty Ltd for believing in our people and returning to recruit more under the Seasonal Work Program.
