Ratu Tui meets Russian Ambassador

Ministry of Foreign Affairs acting permanent secretary Ratu Tui Cavuilati received Russia’s new ambassador to Fiji His Excellency Vladamir Morozov this morning .

Mr Morozov called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Suva then later presented his credentials to His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

Congratulating Mr Morozov on his appointment, Ratu Tui said he looked forward to working closely with the ambassador during his term.

He expressed Government’s appreciation for the close relationship Fiji had with Russia and thanked Mr Morozov for his Government's understanding and support since 2006.

Ratu Tui stated that Fiji was keen to deepen relations between the two countries and to strengthen cooperation in international forums such as the United Nations (UN).

Mr Morozov and Ratu Tui then explored areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries and how these may be advanced to the benefit of both countries.

Mr Morozov also got a briefing on government's foreign policy objectives, especially our Look North Policy and other recent developments such as our participation in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
