The Permanent Secretary for Justice Mr Christopher Pryde has assured members of the public that services provided at the Registrar and Companies Office are continuing normally after this morning’s fire alarm.
This notice comes after a fire alarm went off at 11am this morning leading the Suvavou House tenants to be evacuated, disrupting public services being provided by the Births and Deaths Registry, Marriage Registry, Companies Office and Titles office.
“This resulted in closing down of all services for about an hour,” he added.
“A quick response by the buildings maintenance person and the firefighters saw the fire contained by 11.30am,” he said.
Mr Pryde said the fire alarm is believed to have gone off as a result of the air-conditioning unit overheating on the 2nd floor of the Justice Ministry’s accounts section.
He has also assured everyone that there was no damage to any public records.
Suvavou House houses the Office of the Attorney-General, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
