The Suva City Duavata Youth Annual Sports Day was launched today at Albert Park by the Ministry of Youth and Sports permanent secretary Mr Joseva Sania.
The event saw youth groups from six police community posts in Suva taking part. It is also part of the youth development and empowerment programme within the Duavata Concept of the Fiji Police Community Policing Unit.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports is thankful that the Duavata initiative has been playing a major role in addressing youth issues especially in recognising those that we normally look down upon,” Mr Sania said.
He commended the organisers in putting together programmes to give opportunities for the youth and also help them identify their talents.
The Permanent Secretary also complimented the young people in the Wheelbarrow Boys Association and those in the Shoeshine Services for resolving to keep Suva a safe city for their contribution towards youth development and also assisting authorities in curbing crime.
