The Ministry of Education has advised that all schools should open on the 20th of January.
With few days before the school begins, the Ministry of Education has been receiving queries from the public on the confirmed date for the beginning of the first school term.
“We had set the date for Term 1 from last year and that date still stands. All schools should open on the 20th of January and students to begin classes on the 21st. I am urging school managements and teachers to ensure that everything is in place to allow a smooth beginning for the 2014 academic year. Parents and guardians should also be responsible for the readiness of their children when classes resume on the 21st of January,” said the Ministry’s permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal.
“All teachers should be in their schools on the 20th of January to ensure that all teaching materials are thoroughly prepared for the new academic year. School managements are also urged to create an environment conducive to learning when students report to school for classes on the 21st of January. All classrooms should be ready and compounds neatly kept for a successful outing in 2014.All grants has been paid out to all the eligible schools to ensure that everything is ready before classes resume,” he said
“I wish good luck to one and all as we prepare the journey for another academic year”.
