The second batch of cheques for the free education grant was disbursed to 308 schools today.
Ministry of Education National Heritage Culture and Arts permanent secretary, Dr Brij Lal said 240 were for primary schools and 68 for secondary schools.
“A total of $7,703,361 was deposited into the respective school bank accounts,” Dr Lal said.
“The head teachers, principals and school managements of the eligible schools should make necessary arrangements to prepare their schools for classes as there are only 13 days before the school opens for Term One.
“To date, 723 schools out of the eligible 898 have received the free education grant. The final batch of the grant will be released on Wednesday, January 8.”
