SELECTED FIJIAN WORKERS UNDER THE PALM SCHEME RECEIVE PRE-DEPARTURE BRIEFING CERTIFICATES

12/09/2022

A total of 54 Fijian workers articulated their greatest delight as they received their Pre-Departure Briefing certificates last week from the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Permanent Secretary, Osea Cawaru, confirming their mobilisation under the Pacific Australian Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.

These workers will be deployed soon to 4 different Australian Approved Employers under the Meat Works and Agri/ Horticulture Industry, spreading across different States of rural Australia.

These 54 workers will be absorbed with Madec Perfection Two Wells, Fletcher International, Solutions Australia, and Agri Labour. The Meat Works employment is for 4 years and the Horticulture is for 9 months.

In addition, Mr Cawaru stated that the interest of Australian employers in Fijian workers is partly due to the hard work of fellow Fijian workers already in Australia, which has encouraged those newly selected to keep up the good work to receive more demands in the future.

PS Cawaru urged the selected workers to be good ambassadors, work hard, look out for each other, and follow instructions in order to open many doors of opportunities to other Fijians who wish to experience the same in the near future.

Mr Cawaru ended the ceremony with his words of encouragement and congratulated the workers on behalf of the Fijian Government and reminded them to think about their families at all times.
