A total of 44 students graduated today from Montfort Vocational Institute in Savusavu, marking an important milestone for the graduates and their families, and reflecting the Government’s continued commitment to supporting vocational studies as a practical pathway to skills development, employment, and nation-building.
Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, officiated at the event today (29.11.25) and urged the students to remain committed to lifelong learning.
“To our graduates - You are change-makers, community builders, and symbols of what is possible when education is inclusive, accessible, and practical."
"You remind us that technical and vocational training is not a fallback option. It is a powerful pathway to employment, to entrepreneurship, to creativity, to a better Fiji,” PM Rabuka said.
The ceremony highlighted the institute’s mission of providing inclusive education and training opportunities for young people from across Fiji.
Through both home training that strengthens discipline, character, and teamwork, and vocational training in areas such as carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, agriculture, and cabinet making, Montfort equips students with lifelong skills that contribute to stronger communities and improved livelihoods.
This year’s Dux, Mitieli Yaya, said the achievement was unexpected and encouraged those who wish to pursue vocational education to do so with determination and sacrifice, reminding future students that success is built through perseverance and commitment.
As the graduates prepare to sit their FNU Class 3 Trade Test, their accomplishments stand as a testament to the vital role of vocational institutions in developing skills, restoring dignity, and building a more resilient and prosperous Fiji.
