His Excellency the President, Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote today received the credential of Spain’s new non-resident Ambassador to Fiji His Excellency, Manuel Romani.
The credential presentation at State House was preceded by the new diplomat being accorded a 25 member guard of honour by officers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
Ambassador Romani attended the Diplomatic School in Madrid and entered the diplomatic service in 1980 as the First Secretary in the Embassy of Spain to Teheran, Iran.
Since then, Mr Romani has held various other positions with the Spanish Foreign Service.
He has served as the Deputy Head of Mission in the Embassy of Spain to Quito, Ecuador in 1990 and as the Ambassador to the Republic of Angola in 2001.
Mr Romani was the Consul General of Spain in Bayonne, France in 2012 and most recently Consul General of Spain in Lyon, France in 2013.
He is currently Ambassador of Spain to New Zealand and is based in Wellington.
